Krems, Durnstein, Weissenkirchen and the Wachau Valley wine country - Part 2

Having rendezvoused with the ship in Dürnstein, we depart on a guided walk of the town.

The tour terminates at the Alte Klosterkeller Restaurant where we're promised a complimentary glass of wine. The restaurant is bordered on two sides by its own vineyards making it an ultimate farm to table.

Who do we find holding court and serving wine but Klaus.  It seems he, Jacques, and Jeff had lunch with the family who own the restaurant; they being long time associates of Klaus.

The shortest distance to the ship is through the vineyards.

Returning to the ship, they have another surprise in store for us.  While the ship sails to Weißenkirchen in der Wachau, the restaurant's owners will serve a sampling of their wines while Klaus points out their vineyards which line the banks of the Danube.

The vineyards are terraced and on the steep slopes causing one to wonder how one tends to them.
This is a particularly beautiful part of the Danube and we're grateful that Tauck chose to sail during the day.
Having arrived at Weißenkirchen, the winemakers depart the ship.  Klaus accompanies them to dinner in the village after which they refuse a taxi for the return trip to Dürnstein.  They prefer to take the bus.
Dinner this evening is a BBQ on the sundeck.
