We are late to breakfast and late to lunch on our second day in Prague. There has been a delivery to our room. A small anniversary present of nuts (just what CJ wanted, not!), very good fresh fruit, waffle cone and cheesecake. It will serve as an afternoon snack.
We researched wine bars and select a nearby one for lunch. It is a great find. Mirek or Miroslav Almáši and Dana Maláková. Lunch begins with a delicious local sausage soup and continues with a pasta. The wine tasting consists of three white wines and three red wines. We are not finding them on the "by the glass" list. They have selected very tasty wines.Somewhere on this menu are our three luncheon selections.
How good was lunch? We decided to return for our 37th anniversary dinner. Mirek has given us a reservation at a window table. He greets us with a mujs local sparkling wine. Very good, of course.
Mirek is tending the bar. He informs us that he is turning us over to his colleage Klara. KlárKollárová is not just a server, she is part owner of Vinogif. She is very knowledgeable and provides us with excellent food/wine pairings for the duck pate, chanterelle mushrooms in a sauce,
Although it looks as if we're seated outdoors, we're seated in a window seat.
We had decided to finish with a desert wine. In addition to the fine wine served, Mirek finds a bottle in the cellar that is past its prime. In a short afternoon, Mirek has achieved a level of confidence to share a bad bottle, telling us it's likely an over-the-hill bottle.
