Grein

With the ship in four ports the previous day, they finally take mercy on us. We have a delightful cruise on the Danube this morning.  Many folks are gathered on the forward part of the sundeck for a marvelous sunny morning.  We come across two pretty villages flanking a lock and hydroelectric plant.  During the morning we have a beautiful sail up the Danube, passing by charming villages before treating everyone to the first daytime lock rise of the trip; and it's the most picturesque.

More small villages float past.
Tours depart today after noon. Following a brunch buffet, we forego the visit to Mauthausen, the site of a German concentration camp.  Our five year plan has Auschwitz on it and we don't need to be depressed twice. We elect the walking tour of Grien.

There is a most amazing basement room done in moziac in the cellar of the local castle.

On return, Klaus conducts a tasting of his Anton Bauer wines.  Tony's made some good ones yet again.
This evening is the Chef's Signature Dinner.  We're once again back at Klaus' reserved table and tonight is the evening to celebrate our anniversary on the ship.
