The Harbor of Lorient

Standing atop Keroman bunker K3 in the flak tower, we're afforded views of Lorient harbor. The Germans built these complexes to give them quick access in the Battle of the Atlantic, avoiding the long transits from and returns to home bases in Germany.
Lorient was particularly inviting given the proximity of the pens to the open ocean.
Ancient forts guarded both sides of the harbor which the Germans used both as harbor guarding facilities and anti-aircraft positions.

German admirals needed good housing appropriated from the local population.
