The Pointe Saint-Mathieu (Lok Maze in Breton) is a headland located near Le Conquet in the territory of the commune of Plougonvelin in France. It is flanked by 20m (65.6 ft) high cliffs. It contains a small village with one of the area's best and most pricey restaurants, and a plateau with the remains of an ancient and very prosperous Abbey, lighthouse and signal station. I could go take pictures or call them up from my archives but this original painting by Didier painted on a cabinet door and painted from their own drone fly-over captures the essence of the place.
The GR34 passes along the cliffs near here. In fact it passed in front of the Belevedere hotel and along the property of Meznaot.
This section is primarily for James and Jackie. "GR's or Grande Randonnée" in France are hiking trails. GR34 extends for over 2000 kilometers from the Le Mont-St-Michel just across the Normandy border on the English Channel to St-Nazaire in the Loire-Atlantique . It is considered the most maritime of the GR. We've visited (by car) many parts of the coastline and can attest to the stunning views and ever changing scenery.
We have seen many backpackers and for friends could probably come up with two night overnight stops.

CJ has been to restaurants at both Saint-Mathieu and Le Conquet, hosted by Thomson (now THALES). The one is Saint-Mathieu is fine French dining. Hotel Restaurant Sainte Barbe in Le Conquet towers above the entrance to the harbor and is best known for its seafood and views although it may not be the best seafood restaurant in Le Conquet.
