To the Outback

It is a trip fourteen years in the making. We are off to the Australia's Red Centre and the great Australian Outback. We have gone NOWHERE for far too long. Time to go SOMEWHERE!

This trip is 1000 miles EACH WAY! It is a two-day drive each way. The only place to stop along the way is in the bizarre town of Coober Pedy, but more on that crazy place in another blog.

For now, we are off to the outback.
The outback is a bunch of nothing. Stations or ranches are measured hundreds of thousands or millions of acres. They are so big they cannot be fenced and thus these signs warning travelers of the open ranges. Dead kangaroo, emu, sheep and cows line the road.
