We have been waiting for the new Soi 38 to open for months. The old location closed its doors months ago. Since they have opened getting a booking has been near impossible. This time we were going to a Candlelight concert within a block. We were able to get a Thursday booking two weeks in advance.
The new menu is very good. The new drinks menu has a few gems also.
The torched kingfish is a slab of kingfish that is rolled and then hit with a blowtorch. This appetizer is blue swimmer crab and ginger on a betel leaf.
In the new kitchen, Chef Terry's role is to put the final touches on plates and send them to the tables.
CJ orders kangaroo tail Penang curry. It comes with four pieces of kangaroo tail, something CJ has never eaten previously
Carol orders a cauliflower curry. The wok goes over an open flame fire pit.
This is part of the leftovers we take home. This is two pieces of kangaroo tail over rice. We also take home most of Carol's curry because it was too spicy for her. CJ will get three meals from the leftovers.
