We have become obsessed with aloe plants and their winter flowers. First our little aloe plant put out a single shoot and flower and we watched and photographed its progress over the course of two months. We watched the limbs shoot out, then flower. We watched the flowers grow and leaf out, eventually watching each leaf droop and begin dropping seed.
As our plant came to the end of its cycle, the huge mature bush in our neighbor's front yard started putting out shoots and sprouting out.
Flowers bloom
Individual 'petals' begin to droop and fall off from bottom first
Seed 'petals' continue to drop seeds and drop from stem
All 'petals' fall off and stem needs to be pruned off
And now the view from another angle with our house in the background.
