Once we get through the city, an elevated toll road delivers us to well north of the domestic airport we'll fly from on Tuesday. Thailand continues to amaze us even in our third visit. Highways everywhere. Arriving in Ayutthaya we find a large city of over 60,000 instead of a small village supporting the historical site that we expected. There is a Prime Outlets franchise here. We also passed a huge university and shopping malls.
The day is spent in the hotel enjoying the view from our balcony, having unusual meals and getting a 90 minute massage for about $25.
The hotel has creative drink concoctions to compliment the unusual dining options. We're enjoying the difficulty making selections. At one point we enjoy two drinks in the room. CJ's pineapple selection comes in a hollowed out pineapple while Carol's coconut choice is delivered in a hollowed out coconut.
As nightfall, the reason we selected this hotel and this room becomes apparent.
For dinner we continued to work our way through the menu with CJ selecting a green curry dish very similar to the one he loved at Anantara last year. Carol chose the Snakehead fish.
At Monday's end at RTN Suffolk. Your view is spectacular. Carol is brave to try the snakehead fish. Not sure I have such courage. Really admire her for giving it a go. Hope all continues to go well.
