This is our first Stem tasting dinner in the smaller private room. Today Mark is featuring Grant Dickson and his Otherness wines complimented by European selections from Grant's personal cellar.
This is a monster event. There are five courses of food and 18 wines.
We are seated near the head of the table. Across from us two couples. Both families know Grant. One of them, a cardiologist has made wine with Grant. At the head of the table is Katie Spain, the wine writer for the local newspaper.
Grant is a very interesting speaker. He has made and tasted wine throughout the world. He has uses the best South Australian wine makers. He blends a description of the wine with colorful stories of who and how it was made and humorous or interesting stories of his wine-related journey through life.
The food pairings are marvelous.
The wines extensive.
And of course, the event was a lot of fun.
