How long has it been since we have dined with Maria at Chianti? We believe it is 12 years. We have been looking for an excuse to return to Chianti. One of the Taste of Australia events, their dinner event celebrating the Giro d'Italia Italian bike race gives us that excuse.
Chianti is located three blocks from us. We visited often when we lived and CJ worked in Adelaide. This is our first return. Why? Very good food can be expensive and boring and that is our view of Chianti. It is a great place to go if you want a warm, cozy and friendly atmosphere. It is fine for good food. It is romantic and good for a celebration dinner. But many of the newer restaurants in Adelaide have passed it by. Other restaurants including those nearby offer more exciting cuisine and better prices.
All that said, the Giro d'Italia event is well done, serves up delicious food, and is good fun.
And finally a luscious desert with a Marsala wine.
