Kruger, Sabi Sands and Singita

Our plane departure time is a mystery.  The transfer is a quick 40 minutes and takes us to a unwelcoming building on the back/cargo side of the airport.  The good news is there is minimal security and check-in pomp and circumstance before we walk into a shockingly marvelous lounge complete with coffee machine, food, comfortable seating, gift shop, clean toilets, and Wi-Fi.
Our departure is now 1050. The flight has a bumpy climb out and bumpy descent and smooth ride.

The lodge is a short relatively smooth ride from the airstrip.  Here we have an open air vehicle.

After an orientation, we get a tour of the wine cellar and the Boulders.

The room is way beyond spectacular and we'll deal with that in a separate blog.

Lunch is at 1300, High Tea at 1500 and game drive scheduled for 1600.

We are off with Leon is our driver and guide and Rennick is our tracker.  Here we have an open air vehicle.
In Kenya we saw the black rhino.  This evening we see multiple white rhino.

We still have only the leopard to view.  The trackers corner one and our first siting is off it tracking an impala herd.  When he attacks the herd scatters and it comes up empty.  It appears well fed so perhaps the stalk and attack was more for practice than to solve a hunger issue. It appears to want to be left alone and to go to sleep.

Our guide announces a stop to stretch our legs and have a drink.  Who knew our vehicle carried a bar.
It darkens and on the return Rennick spotlights various animals including the leopard marking his territory and a spotted eagle owl.  Rennick spotted and spot lighted it and CJ shot it.
