"Half Day" Game Drive in the Mara (Before Lunch)

Today Leonard informs us we have a half day game drive and are leaving at 0830.  At dinner he moves the departure time to 0715 and informs us we'll take breakfast and lunch with us.

Shortly after leaving, we find the hyenas and their cubs active.

Not long after that we get the surprises of our lives.  Breakfast in the Bush!  The staff has prepared to provide us a first rate breakfast in the bush.  They have a toilet, washroom, juice and bloody Mary table, cooking station set up in a clearing.  We even have a guy with a big gun, just in case. Eggs made to order including omelets.  Warm milk for tea and coffee, mango juice.  It was way over the top. The first picture is the toilet on the left and the wash room table on the right.

We drive to the Mara River where we find it swollen from the previous evenings torrential rains. CJ spies a huge croc.  Further up the path past the wash rooms is a pool with more than twenty hippos.

Cute zebras and them blocking the road are next on the list.

So far its been more of the same.  Just when we're getting a bit bored, a cheetah and three cubs is spotted.

After that its more zebra, another crossing of the Wildebeest Great Mirgration, five sleeping hyena spotted around a pond that could care less that we pull up within twenty feet of two of them and a lion spotting.

And this has all occurred before lunch!  Stay tuned for the second half of our half day game drive.
