Following lunch on helo day, the group travels to Cape Merry. Carol is exhausted and CJ joins her. While she sleeps, he conducts a mixed results shopping trip. He manages a few souveniers and these sunset pictures.
Carol has been sleeping a lot since she woke up yesterday morning with what appeared to be a head cold.
At dinner we are seated with two other couples chatting and laughing when CJ wonders what Carol is looking for. She is bent over looking at the floor, or so he thought. When she doesn't respond to his questions, he pulls her back to a sitting position. She is unresponsive!
What a great group! The groups swings into action. A couple of the larger men gently move her to the floor. Nick, our tour leader raises her legs while a German woman, a nurse by trade, applies cold water to her forehead. With the EMTs on the way, she finally responds.
Once she responds, CJ also snaps out of it. He realizes neither of us is carrying ID or money or credit cards. While the EMTs work on her, he retrieves our phones (credit cards).
We spend the next three or so hours in the hospital. A liter of saline and a slew of testing later, Carol is released. She passed out from a case of severe dehydration.
Carol's hospital escapade costs us the Northern Lights. While we sit in the hospital, our group takes our bus to the outskirts of town to view them on this only evening with a clear sky.
