Oregon's Columbia River - Part 1

We are on the way to Oregon to taste pinot noir and craft beer. We cross the Columbia River over the top of a huge logging operation. We follow the river to the Pacific Ocean.  A few miles from Astoria, we stop and have a beer at an overwater old seafood processing facility with a rickety one-way wooden bridge to it.

Within the complex is a Rogue bar.

Astoria is the city on the coast at the mouth of the river. There is a massive 4-mile steel cantilever through truss bridge spanning the Columbia mouth connecting Oregon and Washington State. It must be tall enough to allow large ocean going freighters, tankers, and container ships to pass under.

The drive to Seaside is beautiful. We spend the evening.
