CJ has no clue that it is Chinese New Year until he shows up for a nail appointment and the ladies are well dressed, dressed in red, and with matching red lipstick. It is also Vietnamese New Year.
We make arrangements to rendezvous in Chinatown for lunch.
Chinatown Plaza is a relatively new food court with seven or eight food vendors and one drinks vendor offering a full bar.
CJ has a favorite Thai vendor where he always orders the green curry. It is a unique curry that is loaded with vegetables not normally found in one.
Carol has a favorite Yum Cha or Dim Sum vendor. Today she selects BBQ pork dumplings, pork shumai dumplings, and a delicious scallop dumpling. While dining music draws us outdoors. There is a traditional Lion Dance.
Early written accounts of the dance appear in Tang Dynasty scripts from the 7th century. Lion dances are a popular tradition during Chinese New Year; you’ll hear the telltale beating of drums and crash of cymbals in Chinese communities all over the world.
In the second picture one lion goes into the restaurant across the laneway.
