Day 8 - Amami

We arrive to a formal arrival ceremony being the first foreign flag ship to arrive on Amami Island.

Today CJ kayaks. He prefers a two person and gets paired with his favorite Japanese guide Suki. She is from Okinawa. We have a nice paddle through mangroves.

There is a special departure ceremony for us.

This evening we have the special invite to the Chef's table dinner. It is not as good as the one on the Svalbard expedition. Grocery store La Crema chardonnay as the featured white is a horrible start.

The best thing about the dinner is the nearest most fellow guests: James the Nat Geo photographer, Frederic, the Nat Geo scientist from Switzerland/Okinawa, and the two from the Galapagos, one was our guide there in May.
