Neighbors Orange Roses - First Bloom

These are the first blooms from the first yellow rose bush at our neighbor's house.

Moon Lantern Trail

The latest festival in Adelaide is the OzAsia Festival. We are attending at least three events. We exit a theater performance of one of the events and walk to the Moon Lantern Trail walk.

We are greeted with an Asian dragon on the Torrens River footbridge. It is followed by lighted images representing Asian folklore.

CJ Spring Ride Around City Parks

CJ makes a run around town. Typical route is between 9 and 10.5 miles.

The first photo stop is at Veale Gardens. The city has planted annuals in the entrance gardens but the rose gardens have yet to blossom.

We keep finding new and weird aloe plants.

On the other side of town, CJ stops for a rest break on the banks of the Torrens River across from the convention center, Intercontinental Hotel, and new Sky City hotel.

Tangkaira Brunch with Mercedes and Damien

One Sunday we have brunch with Mercedes and Damien at Tangkaira. It is a restaurant on Halifax Street, not too many blocks from our house. Carol's breakfast is of particular note. She has the Handmade Gnocchi as described in the partial menu shot below.

Another Day, More Spring Flowers

Everyday one of us goes out, there are more flowers blossoming. A first red rose.

No idea what this is.
Halifax Street is beginning to blossom. The beds on Halifax are stuffed with flowers of all kinds.

Soi 38 w/ Bronwyn & Neil

We dine with Neil and Bronwyn at Soi 38. This is the second time the food has been too spicy for Carol. CJ and Neil love their dishes.

Botanic Gardens - Hidden Garden Early Bloomers

The last time CJ rode past the Botanic Gardens, he noticed some early spring flowers growing along the north wall.

The orange things are clivia. No idea about the yellow ones.
The Botanic Gardens rose garden lies adjacent to CJ's bike route. Each year, the first roses in bloom are the red roses that line the street adjacent to the fence. They are now in bloom. It will be at least another week for the remainder of the garden.

CJ Walks to Class

In early spring, CJ walked to class on a beautiful day. More flowers are blossoming.

Candlelight String Quartet Playing "Queen"

How many Candlelight concerts have we done? We think it is five. We enjoy them. This night is something very different. We saw this female string quartet performing Vivaldi's Four Seasons in the round in the small room at Adelaide Town Hall.

Tonight Amicus Strings is performing the music of the rock band Queen with two violins, a viola, and a cello. It is a great concert.

Crepe - Second Go

Using leftover crêpe batter, our second attempts are more artistic.

Kata Tjuta

Kata Tjuta means 'many heads'. It is located 30 miles from Uluru although it seems closer. It is a sacred Anangu men's site although one gorge, Valley of the Winds, is open for touring.

The park service is performing maintenance on the platform at the top of the hike so our hike stops at this point, still a long, healthy climb.
Carol's foot did not allow her to make the long hike over rock. We gather her up on the return walk. She is off playing in the flowers.
After the Valley of the Winds hike, we stop at the overlook to get unobstructed views of Kata Tjuta and, in the distance, Uluru.
