Charlotte Bay is protected by a ring of peaks and glaciers. Icebergs in the bay have all calved from the glaciers. The scenery is amazing. We have National Geographic photographer Nick and naturalist Sherre. Sherre is driving the Zodiac.
This is an incredible bay of glaciers and grounded icebergs calved from the glaciers. The bay is simply gorgeous.
During the ride, the restaurant and bar crew show up on a Zodiac with Bailey's.
We find sleeping humpback whales.
On the way back to the boat our National Geographic photographer spies a great cloud to photograph. His first camera selection is wrong; and he's a professional.
When the next group gets out they get a great whale show. We jealously view it from the bridge. Fellow travelers get amazing photos of the whales up close and personal.

What can go wrong with this plan? Happy hour, dinner with wine, and jump on a Zodiac.
It is a steep climb. Part way is the first penguin colony. Farther up a second and from the peak supposedly spectacular views. CJ braves the icy narrow path to the first colony and is enough penguins and scenery for him.
As the sun lowers, the iceberg colors change.
Sunset after midnight tricks everyone. The bar is still humming at midnight. With sunrise two hours later, it never gets dark.
