Old Trafford

The décor at the Oddfellows is even more bizarre than we first thought. There are typewriters and bells adorning the walls, an antique safe and a chandelier hung by block and tackle.

We bid adieu to Chester for a day in Manchester and the third ODI at Old Trafford. We are too early for check in at the Victoria and Albert Marriott.  It's a lovely hotel on the river and we're assured we have a suite.
Cricket begins at 1400 for the day/night One Day International between England and Australia. While enjoying Indian food for lunch we share a table with a delightful pair of English ladies.

England bats first and gets a great run total. We share the innings break (half time) unsuccessfully waiting for our rendezvous with the English ladies.  Eventually we share our table with some English cricket blokes and share some good conversation.
Desiring to enjoy some time in our hotel we leave the match early and enjoy the bar in the hotel before preparing for our flight to Dublin in the morning. We get the match turned on in the bar lounge and are grateful we didn't suffer the embarrassment in person as Australia loses by nearly 100 runs.

Next stop: Dublin
