Now time to hit the slopes. Crystina and CJ have a wonderful day on the slopes; in full sun until the late afternoon. We're pictured on the Elk Camp Gondola at the start of the afternoon.
After a short rest at the Elk Camp restaurant, we cross the mountain back. They return before 3 pm so that the four of us can attend Snowmass Mardi Gras. The resort is doing this right. They've brought in official Mardi Gras 'food', King's Cakes from New Orleans.
They have an official Mardi Gras king and queen who proceed to throw out wave after wave of beads.
They have brought in a nine-person multi-talented band that plays most Louisiana music. How popular is this event? We are meeting many folks who've come here from Louisiana to celebrate Mardi Gras without the insanity of Bourbon Street,
Cold is overtaking us. We elect to return to the condo via the 'eggs' that shuttle folks between the upper and lower villages.
While preparing for dinner, we notice two specially equipped snowcats running up the mountain. We're reasonably certain these are the cats shuttling diners up the mountain to the on-mountain restaurant. This is the baby version. Tomorrow, we'll go to Aspen Highlands and take a much longer and steeper cat ride to an on-mountain restaurant; a much better restaurant.
