Snowmass Sunday

It's a Winter Wonderland.  We've had 18-24 inches of snow overnight.  It's zero degrees in Denver but for some reason 28 degrees in Aspen.  I-70, the only way here from Denver is closed at Vail pass over avalanche concerns. The snowcats have been busy overnight.

What a difference an overnight makes.
Now let's see what the snow's like. CJ makes a few runs.  For whatever reason his Ski Tracks doesn't work.  The snow is amazing with tons of powder about if you want it.  With flat light and increasing snow he makes this first day a short one.  With the upper mountain shrouded in fog, CJ keeps these warmup runs to the lower mountain.

In the afternoon, Carol combines use of the Snowmass shuttle and walking to go shopping. She finds the market at the upper village to be a joke.  It's really a liquor store.  The market in the lower village is well stocked.

Our friends remain stranded in Denver.  Between the backlog caused by the weather, and continuing snow in the mountains, they're forced to spend yet another evening in Denver.  Weather continues to cancel flights into Aspen and I-70 has been hit with two avalanches closing the road for hours
