Snowmass Monday

There has been another 8 inches of snow since yesterday afternoon.  With more than two feet of snow in the past two days, conditions are superb.  The light remains flat but there are hopes for clearing throughout the day.

CJ will exchange skis this morning.  He couldn't get his favorite the Völkl RTM 86 so they gave him a Völkl 8.0. The ski shop was rushed and he got a technician without a clue.  This is not the performance ski he rented.

Armed with a Salomon QST 99 from the ski shop next to the gondola, CJ is off to his favorite part of Snowmass. This slope is a blue, its wide, wide enough for trees to cohabitate without being dangerous.  It's his favorite slope in the world.

The sun is out and the adjacent mountain is gorgeous.

He skis until past two. It's not a good thing when your legs announce the end of the day and you are on the opposite side of the mountain from the condo.

Yeah, our roommates are finally on their way to us.  The afternoon is a mix of clouds and sun.
The roads are clear.  CJ and Henry drop Carol and Crystina off at the village to get her ski equipment while they drive to the airport to retrieve the luggage.  Why those idiots at United Airlines (I dare you to sue me) saw fit to send hundreds of stranded passengers luggage to Aspen when they knew many would be stranded in Denver for days can only be a decision of financial expediency over customer service and compassion.  Four decades and United remains the self-serving airline to avoid at all costs.

On the return, CJ and Henry find a couple of women on the side of the road and pick them up.

We get a good show around sunset.

For the record, the airlines have cancelled 2300 flights since Saturday.
