On every previous trip we've spent a single day in Boulder. It has never been enough. This time we have an extra day. Today we can relax, recover, do our shopping, have a good lunch and then enjoy our favorite brewery in the world.
We'll start out with lunch at the Mexican restaurant recommended by our Sri Lankan hostess last evening. After a lazy morning in the hotel, our first stop of the day is Efrain's. As warned, lines are long. This is a very popular place. It is not a tourist location. You must know where it is.
We begin with marguerites while waiting. CJ has one topped with Presidente brandy and Carol a Mezcal-based marguerite. Both are excellent with excellent food to come.
The primary planned shopping stops today are Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Hazels. By day's end, we've packed a week of supplies into the rental car.
We've decided to play Russian roulette with the weather. Snow is coming in tomorrow. The forecast is for snowing becoming heavier throughout the day. Our plan is to wake early and make a run for the mountain and attempt to beat the worst of it. Wish us luck.
Staying in Boulder means we can keep our reservations at Avery. The tap list is disappointing and after our huge lunch we don't take advantage of their best dish.
We miss catching up with Dennis and Kathy. Dennis is stuck in Mexico on business an extra day and Kathy has a planning party for an upcoming Las Vegas trip. Next time.
We return to the Marriott bar for a couple of cocktails. Every time we've stayed at this hotel there has been a college basketball team staying at the hotel. CJ goes into hysterics when Carol walks past the team's center.
