Torremolinos

Prior to leaving for the day, we admire the lights in the hotel lobby. The tear drop shaped light fixtures feel like they are made from paper Mache and are stunning.
We take the morning train to Torremolinos. Our AVE tickets give us free local train travel. Torremolinos is a hillside beach and tourist town about a twenty minute train ride west of Malaga. We're met at the station by our ex brother-in-law who spends three or four months here each year.

It's a hilly city and we walk streets lined with shops and bars.

Some of the shops are closed, it being Sunday in Spain.  There are more shops open here  than in Malaga.

Our trek through the streets is a descent that eventually brings us down to the beach and to sea level. Larry's apartment building is centrally located along the beach at the base of our descent.

Back in 1926, a local family built a mansion on the side of the cliff overlooking the sea.  It's open for touring and we check it out. It's a beautiful place with much ornate tile work. After touring it, none of us can understand how one would furnish the house, where the bedroom would be located and there is no discernible kitchen.

Larry has a good view from his apartment. Beside the view of the Med, he can see all the way to Malaga and watch the aircraft arriving and departing the Malaga Airport.
At Larry's ninth floor apartment we enjoy a special wine Spitzer of the region while sharing stories and memories of the past.  We leave for another lunch typical of the region; fried mixed seafood. The Rosado, a white fish, is particularly yummy. A single order serves the three of us.
Following a few final drinks near the train station, the local train returns us to Malaga for a quiet evening in the room of preparation for the transfer to Valencia in the morning.
