Today is transfer day. We move from the Barceló Hotel in Malaga to the Barceló Hotel in Valencia. It is not a simple transfer. We must take the AVE back to Madrid and then another AVE to Valencia. Fortunately the first train departs in the late morning.
The transfer at Madrid Atocha is not as seamless as anticipated. The train stops short of the departure area and one must exit the train and return to the station and pass through security again. An additional complication is that the Valencia AVE departs from a different level that the southbound trains.
The AVE to Valencia is the least comfortable to date with a bit of rocking and rolling. However, the meal service has a good cod entrée.
This Barcelo hotel is one block from the main Valencia park with its incredible sculpture buildings. After check-in we walk through it while wasting time waiting for restaurants to open for dinner. The City of Sciences is a complex of futuristic looking buildings including an opera house; oceanographic complex; IMAX theater, planetarium and laserium; and an interactive museum.
Beautiful buildings and bridges surrounded by water features, bike, jogging and walking trails. There is a sundial park, a covered flower garden and many other sculpture pieces.
This last building is their opera house.
Dinner is at a restaurant a block from the hotel that features octopus. It is excellent.
