Train #3 - Rogers K92 Steam Locomotive

Today is Day 6, Easter Sunday. We travel from Te Anau to Dunedin.

The bus makes a pit and coffee stop. An almond croissant calls to Carol. She never eats pastries! CJ has a salted caramel custard filled homemade donut. Both are beyond yummy.

Leaving the town rusted locomotives are pointed out to us. The reason will soon become clear.

Along the way we have one main stop. We stop at the Croydon Aviation Museum and Waimea Plains Railway, home of the Rogers K92 Steam Locomotive. First we take the short ride on the train. Remember the rust buckets in the earlier village, this locomotive once looked just like those two!

CJ jumps off and captures the second spot in the engine's cab. He gets two of the short runs.

Next up we watch the biplane depart. Rides were offered but since he's flown McLaren Vale in a biplane CJ did not schedule us.
For a small aviation museum the place has some interesting aircraft. It has biplanes, jets, gliders, and small aircraft.
After lunch at the cafe, we find a pickup truck in the parking lot with a dead dear. It's obviously hunting season. Later a truck load of dead dear passes by.
We arrive Dunedin early. Our driver, Ross, takes us to see the World's Steepest Road.
