Christchurch recovery day.

The first day in Christchurch is recovery day. We have a good high floor room overlooking Victoria Park. We look directly down on part of the famous Christchurch trolley line.

The weather is gorgeous when we venture out for lunch. It's not a long venture, we cross the street to the Victoria Pub for a simple lunch. This is the place we first met our second "French daughter", Morgane.

CJ spends much of the day attempting to discover the basis for our Raytheon stock so he can complete the taxes. He has also been researching restaurants and breweries.

For dinner he books Casa Publica, a South American restaurant located in the next block. It has an amazing sounding menu but also a lot of open booking times causing some concern.

The Christchurch CBD has two dense dining areas. The main one is around Riverside Market. A second one is a block from our hotel. It is on a short street open only to the trolley.

The worry is unfounded. How good is the food and grog? We book a return for Sunday evening.

The star of this meal is the polenta in the center picture. This polenta is made with parmesan shavings, crema, and garlic. Delicious. CJ's lamb dish is very good with the potatoes and veggies as good or better than the lamb.

The trolley street is lit up on the short walk home.
