Honningsvåg to Alta

It is a long ride from Honningsvåg to Alta. The bus driver does an incredible job driving in wind-driven snow, often with white-out conditions.

There is more daylight on this return over the same route as we came north. This part of Norway is barren. There is not a tree or bush to be seen for the first two hours of driving.
Three hours into the drive small bushes and small trees dot the land scape.

By the time we reach our comfort stop, the same place as we stopped going north and ONLY place to stop, the weather has cleared. There are a few bushes.

The landscape remains barren to the horizon.
The only planned event for the day is a visit to the small rock carving museum in Alta.
The museum overlooks the fiord.
Ancient rock carvings are what the museum is known for. The carvings are from 7,000 to 2,000 years ago.

At 8pm, we board our bus to drive to a secluded beach in search of the Northern Lights. It is a partially cloudy evening. The lights are a no show.
