We need a break from remodeling the Florida house. How about a trip to the Arctic?
We fly from Orlando to Charlotte and on to London-Heathrow. The overseas flight is on an American Boeing 777-200. What happened to our Dreamliner, again? At least business class on this triple-seven has pods even if they are not as functional or roomy or comfortable as Qatar's Q-Suites.
The booking agent had assured us that our bookings were continuous even though we had 2 locators. WRONG! At check-in at the Orlando airport the American Airlines agent says it is impossible even though American was the booking agent. We are using American miles for the entire trip.
We now must go through immigration and customs, retrieve our luggage at LHR and get ticketed for the second half of the trip; and then the "fun" begins. FINNAIR disavows any knowledge of our supposed flight and sends us to BA. BA attempts to send us back to FINNAIR when a sensible and logical agent convinces his colleagues that they need to assist us.
A good half hour later and a pant load of high anxiety later, we go from being unknown by anyone and not having reservations to Oslo to a much better solution. BA finds us in their system. Our FINNAIR flight to Oslo via Helsinki arriving after 7pm in Oslo is actually a non-stop BA aircraft arriving shortly after 3pm. Well done BA!
We have a pleasant surprise in the BA lounge. One of their 8 red wines is a Teusner The Gentleman. It is our house cabernet in Australia.
We are finally off to Oslo on our nonstop.
