Easter Monday - Part 2

Donning down vests, we decide to walk to Oslo Fjorden (the waterfront of Oslo Fiord). It is afternoon on a holiday and the waterfront is crowded with scooters, bikes, baby carriages, and hordes of people. We walk past the strangely architected City Hall to the quay containing high priced condominiums, restaurants, and the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art (not open on the holiday).

It is a busy place with the locals enjoying the fine weather and the holiday. The walk takes us past the Nobel Peace Prize building, ferry docks, and condominum buildings with amazing water views. There are places where folks can walk to the edge of the water.

HNoMY Norge  is the Royal Yacht of the King of Norway. One of only three remaining Royal Yachts in Europe. The ship's name Norge is Norwegian Bokmål for Norway. The Royal Yacht Norge was the Norwegian people's gift to King Haakon VII in 1947. The yacht is owned by the King but maintained and crewed by the Royal Norwegian Navy. Originally built in 1937 in the United Kingdom for Thomas Sopwith, she served in the Royal Navy as an armed yacht during the Second World War.
The busy waterfront is dotted with a cruise ship, working ferries, freighters, and pleasure boat harbors.

Oslo Fiord is large and picturesque.
There are two horse sculptures on the harbor. Private boats have numerous finger piers they can tie up to to be able to enjoy a meal or shop.
At the outdoor cafes, there are heaters and bear skins to keep warm and sit comfortably.

On the return walk, Carol spies a bar and CJ finds a local light stout to his liking.

For dinner, Carol has afternoon formal tea and CJ enjoys an amazing cod dinner. We follow it with the bottle of arrival champagne in our room. For a complimentary bottle, it is very good. It is Champagne Geoffroy Expression.
