In 1996, we visited Domaine Brusset, and tasted with young Laurent who had just taken over winemaking from his father, who had taken over from his father.
CJ picked up a bottle at the wine shop in Saint-Renan. When he told Carol there were 4 Brusset's available, she insisted on conducting a wine tasting.
This was the order we tasted. Since it was neither a vertical or a horizontal, Didier labelled it a "diagonal".We were disappointed. The Rasteau was relegated to cooking. The Ventoux was ordinary but the Cairanne and Gigondas were more to our liking although not what we remembered from tasting with Laurent.
By contrast, we also had a Domaine Santa Duc on this trip. In 1996, we also tasted with Yves Gras on the same day. His latest red remains spectacular.I assume its obvious this picture of CJ with Yves is from 1996.
