Thanksgiving in San Diego

Say hello to beautiful weather for Thanksgiving. We woke in Norfolk before 2AM San Diego time to catch our early morning flight to Dallas.  That flight was loaded with Dallas and Washington fans headed to the game in Dallas.

We arrived in San Diego to 75° and clear skies. Although our room comes with a great view, most all of them have great views.  As one of Marriott's top 3000 customers you'd think a hotel with 55 suites could come up with one.

The view is looking across the San Diego Harbor toward Coronado and Naval Air Station, San Diego.  In the far distance on the other side of the ship channel is Point Loma. At the piers at NAS are an oiler, and the aircraft carriers USS Nimitz and USS Theodore Roosevelt. CJ spent a week at sea on the TR and got his first catapult shot off of her.
The easiest answer for Thanksgiving dinner is the hotel restaurant's buffet. It's an excellent buffet. The turkey and roast beef from the carving station are very good.  Other highlights are the white cheddar scalloped potatoes, shrimp artichoke dip, Mexican scallop chowder, Cinderella pumpkin risotto, cornbread with whipped honey jalapeño butter and the warm bread pudding.  There were also a lot of additional decent choices. Although a pinot noir was the drink of choice, CJ began with a honey nut brown made in collaboration with Stone Brewing and the hotel's own rooftop bees.
Given the time of today's opening bell and the quantity of your typical Thanksgiving feast, we struggle and fail to make it to 9PM.
