Sydney Day 5

Sunrise is brilliant.

We lunch at James Squires Brewpub. It has a great location overlooking the bridge, opera house and Circular Quay.

Somehow we got 'taken'.  Esmerelda, the Chilean tall ship was visiting Sydney. We saw it in Chile when we visited Valparaiso. An Internet advert claimed a dinner cruise on Esmerelda. We were suspicious from the start. The tall ships often visited New London during CJ's youth because New London is home to USCG Eagle, the US's tall ship. He's been on most of non-Soviet ships and even one Russian ship.  The booking gave us multiple weeks of choices. These ships rarely visit a port for more than a day.

As we're leaving the room to go to dinner on it. We see Esmerelda leaving the naval base. Is is coming to pick us up or departing Sydney?

Our tall ship arrives. As suspected, it is not Esmerelda.

The twilight cruise is cold, the pictures priceless.

The boat heads out with a good view of the opera house. Randy helps set sail. We cruise under the bridge and into Darling harbour before returning. The trip to Darling is in fading daylight.
Sydney Tower is 1014 feet and is a communications and observation tower.
It's time to set a couple of sails. They're more for show than sailing. The engines never stop.
Grey headed Randy is shown pulling the "sheet" or line or rope to furl the sail.
The return trip is in darkness. CJ can't resist an artsy attempt.
This is luna park. It's located in North Sydney on the water just upriver of the bridge.
