Back to Brussels

Who knew that sometimes TGV stands for milk run. For more than four hours we slog on a TGV train through many stops in Brittany.  Only ten minutes out of Le Mans do we begin to travel at TGV speeds.

A short 30 minute transfer in Paris delivers us to Paris Nord station where the Thalys TGV delivers us to Brussels. The evening is spent packing for tomorrow's return to the states.

Final Day in Brittany

In the morning we go to the market in St. Ronan to purchase lunch and dinner.

In the afternoon, we make a small tour of German pillboxes of the Atlantic Wall, the largest submarine pens in Brest and the boys play with guns.

The day ends with a dinner of crab, fish soup and fish.

Moving Day

Today we move from Meznaot to Didier's new home; from a 15th century manor to an ultramodern home. It is good to be back with Didier and Jocelyne for the first time since 2006. Following a short walk along the sea, we spend a quiet evening at home.

New Years Day

After returning to Meznaot at 3am, we arise just before noon and have a very lazy day.  By evening after naps, we enjoy a drink in the Great Room.

New Year's Eve

Up at 1000, CJ takes a walk while everyone else sleeps. Today is a lazy day at Meznaot.

We arrive at the New Year's Eve party after half past eight. There are twelve of us.  The party is at the house of Bertrand and Annie.  It is located in St. Pabu next door to the famous house painting hanging in our living room. We last saw them at Courchevel. Catherine, Jean and Isabelle we've known since 1990 and also last saw them at Courchevel. Michelle and Veronique we have not seen since the New Year's Eve party of 1990. CJ has visited Joanna in two different English houses but Carol had never met her.  We adored her departed husband. It was like time had stood still; you would think we had seen all of them just last week.

It is a wild and crazy event of dancing, loud music and where dinner begins shortly before midnight. We leave Claude at the still raging party around 3am.
